History background
CONCEPT
LAT means Living Apart Together, a phenomenon in which partners remain close, but do not live together.
This lifestyle first appeared in Northern Europe, especially in countries known for their sexual openness, such as the Netherlands and Sweden. The term originally referred to unmarried couples in an intimate but separated relationship, but the concept was later extended to married couples.
Not only did many people practice this lifestyle in the past, such as the famous musician Chopin and the writer George Sand, but now LAT lifestyle is becoming popular all over the world. For instance,it is known as “イイトコドリ”（Iitokodori） in Japan.

According to questionnaires and data analysis, there are many people around the world who are adopting a separated lifestyle, as well as those who have a need to live alone. They have different ways and reasons for living apart.
Due to the excessive differences in needs, the hierarchy of needs theory proposed by psychologist Maslow was cited to divide the needs of different ages of LAT COUPLE into eight levels. Through data research, the different need tendencies of each age group are finally summarized.
